Welcome to KH Counselling Practice

Life experiences can sometimes take you to a place where you can feel overwhelmed and lost, which may also lead to feeling anxious or depressed. You could feel ashamed or have no sense of who you are, making it difficult to form decisions or talk to family or friends. This difficulty could result in a feeling of isolation and loneliness. By talking to a qualified counsellor, someone that is impartial, it can offer you, a first step to positive change.

Hello, my name is Kristina Harryman, aka Krissy.

As a fully qualified counsellor I am passionate about helping people with their personal development. I have several year’s experience working face-to-face and online with adults in Henley-on-Thames and young people in a charity and school setting in the Wokingham and Hampshire area.

Privately, I run my own practice and work with adults on-line and face-to-face in my own home in Henley-upon-Thames. I have parking and my counselling room is easy access from Wallingford, Marlow, High Wycombe, Shiplake, Caversham, Reading, Winnersh, and Wokingham. I provide a warm environment that is safe and confidential where, we can explore your concerns in an honest way without judgement.

Prior to becoming a qualified Counsellor I worked in Facilities Management where I was dedicated to supporting people and ensuring their comfort and safety. My purpose was to help improve their quality of life through the environment that they worked in. I also noticed how people would always be drawn to confide in me with their problems.

Having experienced the healing power of counselling first hand gave me an overwhelming sense of wanting to give back and led me to train as a counsellor a few years later. Counselling helped me increase my self-awareness, discover my inner strength, accept my past and grow as a person. My personal story has given me a greater sense of empathy to walk alongside you to promote acceptance, change and growth.

I understand how difficult it can be to realise you need help and make the first step. It would be a privilege to be part of your journey.

My Counselling Approach

Treating People as Unique

As a fully qualified counsellor I work equally with people from all backgrounds and ethnicities as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community. I am a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means I work to a professional code of conduct and to a certain standard.

I treat everyone as unique working primarily Person-Centred which is a Humanistic approach to counselling. This means I will provide a safe environment where you feel accepted and valued and where I will be honest and transparent and see your viewpoint. I can also integrate other modalities to work with your individual needs.

Holistic Approach

I work with a holistic approach that considers mental, physical, and spiritual factors and mindfulness, meditation, visualisation, and breathwork where appropriate. I work with the whole person to promote healing and somatic awareness and a deeper sense of self in a mindful way.

Therapeutic Relationship

At the centre of our work together is the therapeutic relationship, mutual respect and building a feeling of safety, trust and acceptance and a sense of being understood by me the counsellor. I believe you are the expert on you and will help you look inwards and increase self-awareness.

I am sturdy and grounded, and I have a willingness to work alongside you with empathy and compassion. I have, the ability to make sense of what is happening and help you explore your thoughts and feelings and any issues you may have. I will listen without judgement and sometimes ask a question to clarify my understanding and reflect something back to you so you can correct me if I haven’t got it quite right. Together we will build up a picture of what the issues are and how to move forwards.
